McDonald's Monster Crazy Bones Happy Meals
What’s
the best way to market a new toy? Get it into
kids’ hands, of course. Toy
Craze’s Crazy Bones campaign was launched
from ground zero in early 1998. By 2000, it had
grown into a national phenomenon and was picked
up by McDonalds for its Happy Meal. The product
gained widespread recognition after an aggressive,
guerilla PR marketing campaign that synchronized
sample giveaways at playgrounds, schoolyards,
carnivals and festivals with local and international
radio, TV and press hits.
Our
media hits included product placement on MTV,
NBC’s "Third
Watch", CNBC,
and Nickelodeon; and features in USA Today, New
York Times, Wall Street Journal and Brandweek.
Our team also coordinated a mass sampling of
the product at New York Times Square and worked
with McDonalds on the promotion of Monster Crazy
Bones, a Crazy Bones spin-off.
